Fuel thermal input

Mass flow in kg/h and LHV in MJ/kg. The result is thermal input; it does not include equipment efficiency.

P = ṁ × LHV / 3.6

Gross Wobbe index

HHV in MJ/m³ and relative density to air at the same reference conditions. Similar Wobbe values do not guarantee interchangeability or flame stability.

W = HHV / √d

Lambda and excess air

Algebraic relationship between supplied and stoichiometric air. It does not estimate lambda from measured O₂ or account for air infiltration.

Excess air = (λ − 1) × 100%

Educational tools for checking basic relationships. Equipment design and modifications require a process-specific assessment.
